Homegrown: Company Lunch for the Sustainably Conscious

homegrown

Every now and again the Greenvelope team enjoys a company lunch together. One of our favorite Seattle spots is the newest downtown location of  Homegrown. Homegrown is a specialty sandwich shop started by a native Seattle duo, Brad and Ben (big time sammie guys). They’ve created a brand dedicated to bringing their customers the best ingredients that Washington has to offer. Homegrown sources local,  organic and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, and are always keen on creating the best seasonal faire. One of our favorite aspects of Homegrown’s commitment to sustainable food systems is their transparency. Not only do they show customers that they mean what they say, but they provide people with the resources and thought-provoking ideas to help people apply these concepts to the way they look about food all the time. Clearly, we’re in love. Congratulations to this awesome Seattle company who just opened their fifth location today!

Real Wedding Inspiration: Blue, Red, and Penguins all Over

Tiffany and David were married in May at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. They made their wedding extra special by personalizing the tiniest details and using their own creativity to coordinate and embellish in a way we’ve never seen! We were so inspired by their custom Greenvelope invitations, with engagement and wedding details and photography, that we  had to interview the happy couple to get the inside scoop. Afterall, “the details are what truly make a unique event.”

Online Wedding Invitation Etiquette Guide

wme

We are learning that online wedding invitations are moving into the 21st century and finding a place in modern etiquette rules.

We can learn quickly (within minutes thanks to Facebook) of a friend’s engagement. Sending invitations through the mail can create a margin for a delayed response if people move, or the invitation is returned to sender. Delays can make it difficult to have time for the guests to make travel plans with seat availability, price of tickets, requesting time off work, etc.

Since many of us are online throughout the day, it is unlikely to miss critical information. There seems to be a misguided assumption that online communication is exclusively for informal contact/events. On the contrary, beautiful sophisticated invitations are at your fingertips without delay, postage costs and a high price tag.

Check out the new online etiquette-pedia (EmilyPost.com), to reflect what is appropriate for online wedding mailings.

Online invitations are not the way of the future, they are the now!!

SURF, Our First Home

After moving back to my hometown of Seattle in 2012 to pursue Greenvelope full time, I set up a “home office” to tackle the next growth stage of Greenvelope. At that time, all my employees worked remotely so I did not initially see the value of moving to my own office space. I loved the home office lifestyle (no traffic, no added costs, no dress clothes, etc), but I didn’t know what I was missing…
