Say Squeeze! Springtime Citrus Party Inspiration

Forget spring cleaning – we are ready for spring entertaining! And what better way to celebrate the season than with a chic citrus-inspired party from Syzygy Events & Elizabeth Duncan Events?

The pair was inspired by a traditional citrus palette – orange, lemon and lime. This made tying the look together simple – with everything staying within three set colors and playing off of a distinct summery vibe.

Autumn Tablescapes and Menu Delights

autumn menu and trends

Just as we love to celebrate the coming of spring with a garden party, a great way to celebrate the coming of autumn is with seasonal colors and flavors.  In this article we will help you find the perfect balance between simplicity and elegance for all your autumn themed events, starting with table decor.

Let’s talk colors first.  Despite the dip in temperature, autumn is all about warm colors: orange, yellow, red, brown. Warm colored napkins, candles, pumpkins (various colors and sizes), and pinecones are a great starting point for preparing your autumn tablescape. Spread the pumpkins, pinecones and candles across the length of the table or place them on large wood coasters.  You can also add a floral arrangement in a low vase.  My personal favorites are a combination of yellow beech leaves, pale-pink and white dahlias, and gold spider mums or a mixture of pomegranates, red viburnum berries, ranunculus and a couple green leaves to balance out the warm colors. read more…

Why You Should Add Food Trucks to Your Next Event!

What’s with all the fuss over food trucks lately? All of the sudden you see them popping up everywhere: in your parking lot at work, on busy street corners, or circling the local parks. They always seem to have weird names and colors and outrageously long lines of people in front of them that clog up all nearby sidewalks. So what gives?

Well, food trucks, it seems, aren’t just for hipsters anymore. The mobile food craze has spread and everyone’s eager to try the quick, conveniently-located, yummy restaurants on wheels. Last month, I went to a rehearsal dinner that featured a food truck with the best fish tacos and fish ’n chips I’d ever had, which gave me an idea… read more…

We’re all adults here, and for the most part, adult gatherings come with adult beverages. Just as Greenvelope has different templates for different events, there are definitely different drinks suitable for different occasions. Without further ado, we present the Ultimate Guide: Cocktails for Every Occasion Part One.

Waiting for your flight: If you have a long flight ahead of you, you would want a cocktail that you can stretch, meaning one you can savor. Something fresh that plays with all your senses, and will help keep you awake. Perhaps a refreshing Mojito with ground up mint leaves and lime will do the trick.

Spending the Night at Home: Sometimes, nothing beats cozying up and reading a good book, or watching the latest episode of “The Bachelor.” When this is the case, make sure to settle down with a refreshing White Wine Berry Sangria. This White Wine based cocktail, mixed in with some berries and berry extract, sets a light and refreshing tone for the night. read more…

Boys Night Out: 7 Essential Items for a Successful Poker Night

Finally! Your significant other is out of town visiting her parents or spending some time with her friends. This of course calls for a Poker night with you and your best buds! We have created a list of 7 essential items to hosting a successful poker night. For your convenience, we have split the 7 items into two time-frames: Pre-Festivities, Poker Night, and Post Party.

Pre-Festivities

1. Invite your friends, set a date.

How often do your nights out go as planned? With conflicting schedules and busy work lives, it’s hard to get all of your boys out together! The first thing you need to do to host a successful poker night is to send out a clear, straightforward invitation. Try sending out electronic invitations a week or two in advance (see our designs). Make sure you get RSVP’s so you know how many people to expect!

2. Set the Ground Rules.

Make sure the ground rules for the night are clear. Commonly enforced protocol include the “No Wives” rule or the “ No Cashing out Early” rule. Feel free to inject laws personalized for your specific group of friends. When our intern, Cliff, hosts Poker Night, he sets a rule that participants have to bring candy to share. They are a bunch of sweet tooths. read more…

Plan the Perfect Housewarming Party

Compared to packing and hauling boxes into your new home, planning a housewarming party should be fun, fresh, and easy. The first step is creating a guest list. Do you want to keep it small and cozy with just a few friends and family or have an open party and invite all your new neighbors? Next, decide on a date and time. Once you’ve figured those out, this is when Greenvelope comes in and makes it easy to import your entire guest list, send reminders, and allow your guests to save the event to their calendar and get directions with our Google Maps integration.
