Super Bowl XLIX is just around the corner, and the city of Seattle could not be more pumped! While you don’t necessarily have to reside in Seattle to be a Seahawks fan, there are definitely some cardinal rules you must obey. Without further ado, the 8 golden rules of a Seahawks Super Bowl:

1. Crowd Control

First, you want to manage your guest list ahead of time. Make sure you have enough seating with good sightlines for everyone you invite. Inviting a group of diehard Seahawks fans? Perhaps opt to not invite your cousin from New England with a penchant for getting in bar fights. Plan on getting a little rowdy? Remind your guests to find a babysitter for the kids!

2. Lock ‘Em Down

This is the Super Bowl, people! Make sure you’ve got the guest count and your friends know what to expect – and no, a group text message doesn’t cut it. Snag your friends with a themed invitation outlining all the gameday deets. Here is a perfect Super Bowl style to get the party started right.

3. Drinks! Drinks! Drinks!

With all the screaming and shouting that is sure to accompany any good football game, your guests are going to be thirsty. And for a Seahawks Super Bowl, there are plenty of ways to keep it on theme. For Seattle locals, refresh your guests with delicious Hilliards 12th Can or Rachel’s Ginger Beer. For fans further away, you can still select themed drinks to commemorate the day: think blue Kool-aid, beer and soda exclusively in green and blue cans, and when in doubt, put Skittles in everything.

4. Food! Food! Food!

Your guests will be hungry, and while you don’t need to provide a 5 course meal, one plate of chicken strips really won’t cut it. Embody the Seattle spirit near and far with Beechers cheese and smoked salmon, anything made with Tom Douglas’ Rub with Love, or get really wild with some Seattle dogs. (Uncertain what a Seattle dog is? Wikipedia is here to help you out.)

5. Pump Up the Jam

It’s the big game, and it’s time to get amped! For the moment of the big win and half-time (while Katy Perry isn’t playing, at least) make sure you have a playlist as intense as the Seahawks defense. Keep vibes positive with this SB49 playlist curated by Spotify.

6. Huddle Up

Watching the game is great, but why not get in on the action? Whether it’s tossing around a Nerf football or organizing a full-fledged half-time flag football game, take some time to toss the ol’ pigskin around!

7. Ante Up

Sure, you could bet on the outcome of the game, but what fun is that? Add a little extra entertainment by betting on, well… everything else. What color cleats will Marshawn Lynch be wearing? Which company will have the best Super Bowl commercial? We all actually care about these little things, so have some fun with it. This checklist is a good jumping off point, but be sure to add your own!

8. Organize transportation

The game is over, the post-game celebrations are over, and it’s time for everyone to head home. Make sure that those who imbibed on a couple too many of those Skittles mojitos or green beers either have a DD, are calling an Uber, or have enough change to catch a ride on the bus.

Whether you’re joining us in Seattle to cheer on the ‘Hawks or are a lifelong Pats fan, we hope you have an epic and safe Super Bowl weekend! If you still need to send out those last minute invites, you can send 10 for free here!
