What first inspired you to pursue graphic design?
I’ve always loved combining type and imagery. When I was a kid, I would spend hours making collages and cutting letters from words in magazines ransom-note style. In fifth grade, my snowy mountain scene illustration was chosen as the cover of our school winter concert program, and I was hooked. But I honestly didn’t know about graphic design as a field – or a career option – until I was almost finished college, so I was a little late to the game in that respect.

What music are you listening to this month?

Sharing an office with Josh means taking turns being DJ. We mainly stick with Pandora playlists, but recently he’s kind of gotten me hooked on some beachy trance music. I’m not sure that’s an official genre, but that’s what I’m going with!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Oh man, that’s a tough one! I guess there’s two. From the time I was a kid, my mom has also told me to keep on marching to the beat of my own drummer. She was really into art and went to great efforts to instill creativity into our lives, which I appreciate so much. The second one is not necessarily from a particular person, but that mantra to be in the moment. I’m a bit of a planner and workaholic, so I often find myself in one place and my head in another – I’m trying really hard to be present and enjoy things as they’re happening.

Your favorite movie or show?
I’m a sucker for 80s movies, and Goonies is still my all-time favorite. For TV show, Game of Thrones is amazing!!! After the first season, I couldn’t stand the suspense and read the books, but that almost made it worse because the series isn’t finished, and the show might outpace the books. It actually stresses me out a little bit! =)

What memorable responses have you had to your work?
I do a lot of identity and branding work, and whenever a client tells me that I nailed it, it makes me really happy. I love being able to help people and businesses present themselves and their sentiments visually.
