Themed weddings awaken our imagination. It’s like playing dress up except all the smiles, laughter, and tears are real.    This year, 1920’s “Gatsby” themed weddings with art deco decor and pearl necklaces are all the rage. If you are not jumping on that bandwagon, here are our five of our favorite wedding themes.

60’s Mystery Dinner: Brown trench coats, fedora hats, long pearl necklaces, and a missing bride. Everyone is a suspect.  Guests scan through a mystery-themed menu as a detective scrutinize the room and its inhabitants.

Coffee Shop: Many couples had their first date at a coffee shop. Why not revisit that memory with a coffee-themed wedding? Host a brunch wedding with plenty of coffee drinks, flavored creamers and syrups, sugars, and alcohol. Give coffee cups and chocolate covered coffee beans as wedding favors.

Tea Party: Think Alice in Wonderland. Beautiful painted china, pastel colored cake pops, vintage teapots, and wooden boxes displaying an assortment of teas and shortbread cookies.

Nautical: Ahoy! Your groomsmen will look dashing in those sailor hats, white collared shirts, and navy striped ties.  Offer guests mini engraved compasses as wedding favors and serve fresh seafood during reception.

Picnic: Skip the tables and bring large blankets. Summer is a beautiful time to lay on the grass and enjoy the glimmering stars.  Serve meals in picnic baskets, set up a lemonade stand, have rope-pulling and donut-eating contests, and give wedding favors in mini to-go boxes.
