Greenvelope vs. Lemonvite: Designs, Pricing, and RSVPs

A side-by-side look at designer artwork and generated designs, delivery by email, text, and WhatsApp, RSVP and guest tools, and what each really costs.

Greenvelope and Lemonvite both send designed digital invitations with real-time RSVP tracking, and the choice comes down to design approach, delivery, and price. Choose Greenvelope to customize an invitation from a collection commissioned from independent artists, delivered inside an animated envelope addressed to each guest, with grouped household RSVPs, meal questions, and a built-in seating chart behind it. Choose Lemonvite to generate artwork from a written description and publish an event for $5 at its current launch price, with text-first delivery and WhatsApp routing outside the US and Canada.

Designer Artwork You Customize vs. Designs Generated From a Description

On Greenvelope, you start by browsing. The collection is commissioned from independent artists, none of the published collection AI-generated, and each design is editable in wording, fonts, photos, and preset colorways, plus the envelope, liner, and stamp. You can also upload finished artwork of your own (JPG, PNG, or PDF) or add a video, uploaded or embedded from Giphy, YouTube, or Vimeo, and changes to a design’s own artwork are an optional paid design service.

On Lemonvite, you start by describing. Its design engine generates artwork from a written prompt, with style presets, a match-a-photo option, and prompt-based editing; each credit includes 5 generations. Generation is not required: Lemonvite’s published features also cover example invitations, uploading your own image, and importing a still design from Canva (Share-menu sending is listed as coming soon). An animated GIF can serve as the invitation, though text overlays cannot sit on a GIF.

Either way, preview the invitation before paying.

What Guests Experience

A Greenvelope invitation reaches each guest as a personalized link by email or text. Opening it plays the animated envelope, addressed to that guest by name, with optional music including your own MP3, before the invitation and RSVP form appear. Guests open and reply in the browser with no account, no app, and no advertising.

A Lemonvite invitation arrives as a personal link by text, email, or WhatsApp. Guests see the artwork, still or animated, above the event details, map link, calendar buttons, and event wall for updates, then reply with adult and kid counts and any host questions. No account, no app, and no ads on Lemonvite either.

Email, Text, WhatsApp, and Shareable Links

Delivery claims blur four routes: platform email or SMS, platform-managed WhatsApp, a host-shared personalized link, and a public link anyone can answer.

Greenvelope sends by email, and by text in supported countries. Paid accounts include an account-level allowance starting at 500 text messages, plus US packages of 250 more for $10 at the published limits and rates. For a guest on WhatsApp, the host shares that guest’s personalized card link there; the open and the RSVP are recorded to that guest, though delivery and read status inside WhatsApp are not tracked. The public shareable link and QR code are a registration URL: responders enter a name or similar identifying details. Per-guest delivery status applies to email and text sends.

Lemonvite routes by the phone number’s country: US and Canada numbers get an SMS carrying the guest’s personal link, and numbers everywhere else are routed to platform-managed WhatsApp, which reaches numbers that are on WhatsApp. Email goes to guests whose records include an email address, and anyone answering through the public RSVP link or QR code enters a name and party size and gets a private link. Unique links show a Viewed mark once opened; unreachable numbers are flagged Undeliverable after the send attempt.

RSVP Depth and Guest Management

Both cover the core: real-time tracking, custom questions including meals, plus-one controls, reminders, exports. Greenvelope’s survey questions come in four formats, dropdown, radio button, checkbox, and open text; households can be grouped under one contact with every member named, so each person answers separately, meal questions included, and plus-one names can be required.

Smart Survey answers can save to the guest’s contact record, scheduled reminders go only to non-responders, and the list exports to Excel or CSV; our best online RSVP tools for meal choices guide compares more platforms. Greenvelope’s built-in seating chart goes further for seated events, with a floor plan editor and automatic table assignments that keep grouped contacts together, while a reusable address book exists on both platforms.

Lemonvite’s RSVP tooling covers real ground: up to 10 custom questions, required or optional, with answers in the guest list and export; adult and kid plus-one caps per guest or as an event default; an event capacity cap; contact labels across a 2,000-person address book; and up to 10 co-hosts per event. Greenvelope mailings take cohosts too: an added cohost can edit design and details, manage the guest list, send, message and remind guests, and track responses; the full address book, account settings, and purchases stay with the owner.

An illustrative example, not a customer story: a 100-person seated celebration with three entree choices, multi-person households, and assigned tables. On Greenvelope, the documented path runs end to end: group each household, ask the entree per attending guest, require plus-one names, then assign tables in the built-in seating chart. On Lemonvite, the invitation, a required meal question, and the RSVP counts are documented; extra attendees enter as adult and kid counts, a custom question can collect names as answers rather than separate guest records, and seating works from the CSV export. A host without assigned seating never meets that difference.

Pricing, With Two Worked Examples

Greenvelope charges a one-time price per mailing, set by guest count. Single mailings start at $19 for up to 20 people, no subscription required; tiers step every 20 people up to 200 guests, so a 100-person list is $99, with larger tiers above. Every person on the list counts, household members included. A save the date and the invitation after it are separate mailings, each priced on its list; reminders and messages on an existing mailing are not a new purchase, though texts draw on the allowance. Optional annual memberships, from $60 per year, cover unlimited mailings, each for a unique purpose and capped at the package’s guest count. Every tier is in our Greenvelope pricing guide.

Lemonvite charges $5 to publish an event, a labeled launch promotion against the $12.99 reference price its pricing page displays. Designing costs nothing until you publish. The $5 covers up to 150 guests, up to 50 of them with phone numbers; each extra batch of 50 phone guests costs $5, and archived phone guests still count toward the allowance. Every feature is included at that one price.

Worked example 1: one event, 100 individual guests, one attendee each, by email, every Lemonvite record saved with an email address only; a stored phone number would count toward the phone allowance regardless of channel. Greenvelope: $99, the single mailing for up to 100 people. Lemonvite: $5 at the launch price, or $12.99 at the reference price. Before taxes, Lemonvite is far less expensive here.

Worked example 2: the same event to 100 US phone numbers, one text invitation each plus one reminder round to non-responders, at most 200 messages, one per send. Lemonvite: $5 plus one extra batch of 50 phone guests, $10 total at the launch price, no per-message charge for reminders. Greenvelope: the $99 mailing when the included allowance covers those messages; an account past its 500 starting texts adds packages of 250 for $10 each. Lemonvite is the lower total here as well.

The higher Greenvelope price buys the artist collection and envelope presentation, households replying person by person, answers saved to the address book, the built-in seating chart, and weekday phone support. A host who does not need those should take the lower price; a host sending several mailings a year should price the membership against single mailings.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Greenvelope for a wedding or seated celebration where the stationery stays coordinated from save the date through thank you note and the planning turns on named households, meal answers, and table assignments; our digital wedding invitations page covers that workflow. Choose Lemonvite when generated artwork and a low publishing price are the point and its custom questions, counts, and CSV export cover the planning.

For a birthday, shower, or dinner party, either platform does the job. Weighing more platforms? Our ten-platform comparison covers the wider field.

To settle the design question, browse Greenvelope’s wedding invitation collection, or any occasion’s, then create an account and send a real invitation to up to 10 people, no credit card required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Greenvelope and Lemonvite?

Greenvelope pairs a collection from independent artists with an animated envelope and planning tools such as household RSVPs and a seating chart, priced per mailing from $19. Lemonvite generates artwork from a written description, delivers by text, email, and WhatsApp, and publishes an event at a low launch price.

Is Lemonvite cheaper than Greenvelope?

Usually, yes. Lemonvite publishes an event for $5 at its launch price, against a $12.99 reference price. Greenvelope single mailings run $19 for up to 20 people and $99 for up to 100; that price buys the artist collection, envelope presentation, household grouping, and seating chart.

Do Greenvelope and Lemonvite send invitations by text message?

Yes, both do. Greenvelope texts in supported countries, and paid accounts include an allowance of text messages, more available to purchase. Lemonvite texts US and Canada numbers, with 50 phone guests included and additional batches of 50 for $5 each.

Can I send invitations through WhatsApp?

On Lemonvite, WhatsApp delivery is built in: numbers outside the US and Canada get the invitation and updates there automatically. On Greenvelope, you share a guest’s personalized card link through WhatsApp yourself; the open and the RSVP are recorded to that guest, but delivery and read status inside WhatsApp are not tracked.

Do guests need an account to RSVP?

No, on either platform. Greenvelope guests open the invitation and reply in the browser with no account or app. Lemonvite guests tap their personal link and reply the same way; anyone responding through a public link enters identifying details, such as a name, so the reply lands under them.

Can both platforms collect meal choices and manage plus-ones?

Yes. Greenvelope asks meal and dietary questions in four formats, groups households so each named person answers separately, and can require each plus-one to be named. Lemonvite supports up to 10 custom questions, required or optional, with adult and kid plus-one limits per guest; extra attendees there enter as counts, though a custom question can ask their names.

Does Lemonvite have an animated envelope?

Not that its documentation describes. Lemonvite animation means animated GIF artwork as the invitation itself, while Greenvelope invitations open with an animated envelope addressed to each guest.

Which platform should I consider for a wedding?

Greenvelope is the stronger documented fit for a seated wedding reception: grouped households answer person by person, meal questions attach to each attending guest, and the built-in seating chart assigns tables from the same list. Lemonvite also handles weddings, particularly casual ones, with custom questions and a CSV export for outside seating tools.
