Best Invitation Platforms for Automatic RSVP Reminders

Five platforms, five different ideas of an automatic reminder. Compare reminder audiences, timing control, and channels before you pick one.

Greenvelope, Mixily, Evite, Paperless Post, and Partiful all automate some part of RSVP follow-up, and each of them means something different by it. On one platform an automatic reminder is an email the host schedules for guests who have not replied. On another it is a fixed text message that does not follow the host's RSVP deadline. On a third it is a resend triggered by an unopened email rather than a missing reply. Choosing a platform for automatic RSVP reminders comes down to three questions this guide answers side by side: who receives each automated message, when it goes out, and through which channel.

This comparison is published by Greenvelope. Every provider claim below is drawn from that provider's own published documentation, reviewed on October 26, 2026, and linked beside the claim or in the sources section at the end. We have not run a hands-on side by side test, so confirm current details with each platform before you commit.

At a Glance

  • This guide's recommendation: Greenvelope, for hosts who want reminder emails they schedule themselves, sent only to guests who have not responded, with a separate event reminder for attending guests and household and meal answers recorded per guest
  • Scheduled broadcasts plus an automatic resend: Paperless Post hosts can schedule RSVP and event reminder broadcasts by text or email to chosen guest groups, guests can set their own text reminders, and unopened email invitations resend once automatically
  • Adjustable automation at no extra cost: Mixily sends customizable reminder emails to guests who have not responded, and can also schedule messages to attending guests; its own pages differ on the preset schedule
  • The widest default audience: Evite schedules one reminder automatically, and it reaches every invited guest except declines, a breadth suited to a general nudge rather than a message aimed only at guests who have not replied
  • The free fixed schedule: Partiful reminds Maybe and not-yet-responded guests 1 week before the event and going guests 2 hours before, with no setup; its eligibility conditions are covered below
  • The deciding detail is the audience: the same 100-guest list produces reminder audiences of 22, 68, or 90 people, depending on the platform and the message type

What Counts as an Automatic RSVP Reminder

Three different messages travel under this one name, and a platform can be strong on one and silent on another.

The first is the RSVP request: a nudge to guests who have not answered yet, asking for a yes or a no. The second is the attendee reminder: a note to guests who already said yes, carrying the event details rather than a deadline. The third is the unopened-invitation resend: a redelivery triggered by an email that was never opened, which is a different condition from a reply that was never given. A guest can open an invitation and still not respond, and a guest can respond from a household member's copy without opening her own.

Who controls the timing varies just as much. Greenvelope reminders are host-scheduled. Mixily ships automated reminders the host can adjust. Evite schedules one by default and lets hosts add more. Partiful runs a fixed schedule the host can only switch on or off. Paperless Post pairs host broadcasts, which can be scheduled in advance, with a guest opt-in reminder and an automatic resend.

Two boundaries to set expectations by. First, an RSVP deadline printed on the invitation is not itself a reminder: on Greenvelope the host sets reminders from the Track step whether or not a deadline is written on the card, on Evite a deadline moves the default reminder date, and on Partiful the fixed schedule does not follow the deadline at all. Second, on Greenvelope these reminders belong to invitation mailings, the mailing type built around RSVP collection; a save the date or announcement does not collect RSVPs, so there is no not-yet-responded group for a reminder to target until the invitation goes out.

Automatic RSVP Reminders Compared Across Five Platforms

As documented by each provider on October 26, 2026. Sources are linked in the notes below the table and in the sources section.

Decision factorGreenvelopeMixilyEvitePaperless PostPartiful
Setup required Host sets each reminder from the Track step. A written RSVP deadline does not schedule one. Automated reminder emails are included per event; keep or adjust them. One reminder is scheduled automatically at creation; none is auto-scheduled within 7 days of the event, though one can be added manually. Host sets up broadcasts from Messages & Reminders, now or scheduled in advance. Unopened email invitations also resend automatically once after 2 days unless the host turns that setting off. None; auto-reminders are on by default and toggle off in event settings.
RSVP reminder vs. attendee reminder Separate tabs: RSVP reminders for guests who owe a reply, event reminders for attending guests. Automated reminders cover non-responders; scheduled messages go to the yes, maybe, no-response, or all segments. One reminder type covering both jobs; a separate attendee-only reminder is not documented in the source reviewed. Personalized notes go through its Messages feature. Reminder to RSVP, Event reminder, Time/location change, thank you, and custom broadcasts to chosen guest groups. Guests can also set reminders for themselves. Split by status: a finalize-your-RSVP reminder and a separate going-guest reminder.
Host-selected dates or fixed intervals Host-selected: Send Now, or Schedule Reminder for a chosen date. Adjustable in days, hours, or minutes before the event; its pages differ on the preset count and timing (note below). Default fixed at 2 days before the event, or 2 days before the RSVP deadline when one is set; hosts can schedule up to 5 reminders at chosen dates and times. Host-selected: broadcasts send now or are scheduled in advance. The automatic resend is fixed at 2 days after sending. Fixed: 1 week before the event, and 2 hours before for going guests. An RSVP deadline does not move the schedule.
Who receives reminders RSVP reminders go to contacts who have not yet responded; event reminders go to guests marked attending. Invited guests who have not responded; guests who RSVP are excluded. All invited guests except those who responded Not Attending, so accepted guests are included. Host picks guest groups by RSVP status and optional tags, such as attending, or opened but not yet RSVPed. The resend keys on unopened email, not RSVP status. Maybe and not-yet-responded guests get the 1-week reminder; going guests get the 2-hour one. Eligibility is described differently across its articles (note below).
Custom message Yes: a message is added before sending or scheduling, and the reminder email carries the invitation with yes and no reply links. Yes: edit the text, add an image, and preview before it sends. No: reminder messages are not customizable; the Messages feature is the route for a personalized note. Yes: the templates are editable, with a 2,000-character limit and no attachments. Not documented as customizable for auto-reminders; Text Blasts are host-written.
Channel Email. Texts are separate messages the host sends to selected guests through the Message Center. Email. Email for yes and maybe guests; email or SMS for not-replied guests, depending on how they were originally invited. Broadcasts go by text or email to the chosen groups; guest opt-in reminders arrive by text message or WhatsApp. SMS, iMessage, or WhatsApp depending on the country; push notifications for app users; email for email-invited guests before they RSVP.
Plan limits that matter Included with invitation mailings, priced one time by guest count: $19 for a guest list of up to 20 people, $99 for up to 100, no subscription required. Reminders are included on every plan; paid plans are billed monthly. Free: 2 active events, 50 invitations and 40 RSVPs per event, plus 200 emails per week. A 100-guest event needs Lite at $19 per month (100 invitations and 100 RSVPs per event, 1,000 emails per week). Reminder settings are unavailable when RSVPs are turned off for the event; no plan condition is stated in the source reviewed. The broadcast and reminder tools are described as free follow-up features; sending the invitation itself is priced separately. The core platform is free, with optional paid features such as premium designs.

Three details the table cannot hold

Check Mixily's reminder schedule in the dashboard, because its pages differ on the preset. Its auto-reminders feature page describes two scheduled reminder emails to guests who have not responded, adjustable in days, hours, or minutes, with an editable message, an image, and a preview; its on-page FAQ gives the default as a month before the event and recommends 7 days and 1 day. Its separate site FAQ instead describes reminders 1 week, 1 day, and 1 hour before the event. Those presets genuinely conflict, so confirm yours in the event dashboard. The site FAQ's silence on adjusting the timing is an omission rather than a contradiction: the customization details come from the feature page, and the wedding guide's description of intervals the host sets agrees with it. All three say the reminders are emails to guests who have not responded. The feature page also documents scheduled messages to chosen segments, attending guests included.

Paperless Post offers scheduled host broadcasts, automatic resends, and guest-set reminders. Its features guide says hosts can schedule reminders in advance from Messages & Reminders, with broadcasts sent by text or email to chosen guest groups, its examples being guests who are attending and guests who have opened but not yet RSVPed; its help article adds the template list, the status-and-tag group picker, and the 2,000-character limit, without enumerating the status groups. Separately, its redelivery article says email invitations unopened after 2 days are resent once automatically when the event has a date, with an account setting to turn it off. That resend is aimed at guests who never opened the invitation, not guests who never replied. Its guest opt-in feature lets guests set their own reminders: an undecided guest can choose a text reminder for tomorrow, 2 days, or 1 week out, and an attending guest can choose an event reminder by text or WhatsApp. The guest chooses the timing and completes verification, so these reminders are controlled by the guest.

Partiful's automation will not cover an early RSVP deadline, and its eligibility is described in two places. Its deadline article says the 1-week and 2-hour reminders run whether or not a deadline is set, and that a deadline more than 1 week before the event means guests receive no automatic reminder to RSVP; Partiful points hosts to a manual Text Blast instead, which reaches guests who RSVP'd or were invited directly through the app or web, per its Text Blast article. On eligibility, its reminder article says auto-reminders go only to invited users already signed up for Partiful, while its email-invite article says guests invited by email receive event reminders and Text Blasts by email before they RSVP. The two articles describe different pathways without stating how they combine, so this guide reports both and treats any account requirement as qualified rather than universal.

One Roster, Three Different Audiences: A Worked Example

This example applies each provider's published audience rules to one hypothetical guest list. It is not a test we ran. Consider 100 individually contactable invitees: 68 have accepted, 10 have declined, and 22 have not responded. It assumes no guest has answered Maybe, the relevant reminder features are turned on, and each platform's eligibility conditions are met. The sizes below are the audiences each rule implies under those assumptions, not measured deliveries.

MessageAudience ruleIllustrative audience size
RSVP request to guests who have not replied (Greenvelope scheduled RSVP reminder; Mixily automated reminder)Guests who have not responded22
Partiful 1-week reminderMaybe and not-yet-responded invited guests, subject to its eligibility conditions22 on this roster, which has no Maybe replies
Attendee message (Greenvelope event reminder; Partiful 2-hour reminder, same conditions)Guests who accepted68
Evite default reminderAll invited guests except Not Attending replies90
Paperless Post broadcast, sent now or scheduledThe guest groups the host selectsSet by the host's selection
Paperless Post automatic resendEmail invitations unopened 2 days after sendingKeyed to opens, not RSVP status

This example illustrates published audience rules; it does not test how scheduled recipient lists update after guests change their RSVP.

Evite's default reminder reaches 90 on this roster: every invited guest except the 10 declines, so the 68 who accepted receive the same message as the 22 still deciding. That breadth suits a general keep-the-date nudge to the whole room; it does not narrow to the guests who still owe an answer, and the copy cannot be tailored to either group.

One case the arithmetic hides: an accepted guest with a blank meal answer. She has responded, so no non-responder reminder reaches her, and that is correct behavior. An accepted RSVP with missing information takes targeted follow-up, a direct message asking for the one answer, not another deadline nudge. The cleaner fix is collecting the answer with the RSVP in the first place, covered in our guide to adding custom questions to an online RSVP.

Which Platform Fits Your Follow-Up

For events with a caterer or venue headcount deadline, the reminder schedule has to track that deadline rather than the event date. What serves that: reminders on host-chosen dates, an audience limited to guests who have not replied, a custom line naming the reason an answer is needed, a separate note for the guests who said yes, and replies detailed enough to plan from.

Greenvelope is this guide's recommendation for those needs, and Greenvelope publishes this guide, so weigh the recommendation accordingly. One invitation mailing covers the whole list: RSVP reminder emails sent now or scheduled for dates you pick and addressed to guests who have not responded, a separate event reminder for attending guests, survey questions recorded against each guest, households grouped under one contact with every member named, and one-time pricing by guest count rather than a subscription. Competitors overlap here, so this is a fit for the combination rather than an exclusive feature: Mixily documents adjustable reminders and each guest's answers in its dashboard, and Paperless Post documents scheduled broadcasts to chosen guest groups.

Mixily fits when adjustable reminder automation on a light event page is all you need: timing in days, hours, or minutes, editable messages, and scheduled messages to attendees. Reminders are included on every plan and paid plans are billed monthly, so price it against the caps rather than the headline figure: the free plan covers 2 active events with 50 invitations and 40 RSVPs each plus 200 emails per week, and a 100-guest event needs Lite at $19 per month.

Evite fits when a reminder you never have to set up matters more than audience precision, and when the everyone-but-declines breadth suits the event. One condition to plan around: an invitation created within 7 days of the event gets no automatically scheduled reminder, so a late-planned party needs one added by hand.

Paperless Post fits when scheduled text or email broadcasts to chosen guest groups, guest-set text reminders, and the automatic resend of unopened email invitations match how your list behaves. Confirm the exact status groups in the dashboard, since its published articles do not list them.

Partiful fits when the gathering is casual, the guests are on Partiful, and its free fixed schedule is enough, the 2-hours-before nudge to going guests included. Its limitation is specific: the fixed automation sends no RSVP reminder ahead of a deadline more than a week before the event, where its documentation points hosts to a manual Text Blast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which invitation platforms send automatic RSVP reminders?

Greenvelope sends scheduled RSVP reminder emails to guests who have not responded, on dates the host picks, and Mixily, Evite, Paperless Post, and Partiful each automate it differently. Mixily sends customizable reminder emails to non-responders, Evite schedules one default reminder that reaches everyone except declines, Partiful runs a fixed 1-week and 2-hour schedule subject to its eligibility conditions, and Paperless Post lets hosts schedule reminder broadcasts by text or email to chosen guest groups and automatically resends unopened email invitations once.

Does Evite send RSVP reminders only to guests who have not responded?

No. Evite's documentation says reminders go to all invited guests except those who responded Not Attending, so guests who said yes or maybe receive the same reminder as guests who never replied. The default is one reminder 2 days before the event, or 2 days before the RSVP deadline when one is set, no reminder is scheduled automatically when the invitation is created within 7 days of the event, and the reminder copy is not customizable.

Can you choose when an automatic RSVP reminder goes out?

On Greenvelope, yes: each reminder is sent now or scheduled for a date the host picks. Mixily's reminder timing is adjustable in days, hours, or minutes before the event. Evite's default is fixed, but hosts can schedule up to 5 reminders at chosen dates and times. Paperless Post broadcasts can be sent now or scheduled in advance. Partiful's schedule is fixed at 1 week and 2 hours before the event and does not follow an RSVP deadline.

Does setting an RSVP deadline schedule a reminder automatically?

It depends on the platform. On Greenvelope, a deadline written on the invitation does not schedule anything; the host sets reminders from the Track step. On Evite, a deadline moves the automatic reminder to 2 days before the deadline instead of 2 days before the event. On Partiful, the fixed schedule ignores the deadline, and a deadline more than 1 week before the event means guests get no automatic reminder to RSVP at all.

Are automatic RSVP reminders emails or text messages?

It varies. Greenvelope's scheduled reminders are emails, and texts are separate messages the host sends to selected guests through the Message Center. Mixily's reminders are emails. Evite reminds yes and maybe guests by email and not-replied guests by email or SMS, depending on how they were invited. Paperless Post host broadcasts go by text or email, and its guest-set reminders arrive by text or WhatsApp. Partiful uses SMS, iMessage, or WhatsApp by country, push notifications for app users, and email for email-invited guests before they RSVP.

Can you send an automatic RSVP reminder on a save the date?

On Greenvelope, RSVP reminders belong to invitation mailings, the mailing type built around RSVP collection. A save the date or announcement does not collect RSVPs, so there is no not-yet-responded group for a reminder to target. The reminder schedule starts with the invitation, which sends to the same guest list, and the RSVP deadline and reminders are set on that mailing.
