Sara and Andy took their two favorite cities\u2014their hometown of Rochester, New York and their current city of Portland, Oregon\u2014and incorporated both locations into one incredible theme. And why not? There\u2019s no better time than a wedding to celebrate the places that have our hearts. Sara told us, <\/span>\u201cWe called the style of our wedding \u2018bringing Oregon to New York.\u2019 We wanted a woodsy, outdoorsy feeling, but nothing too rustic or country.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In the words of the bride,<\/span> \u201cI wanted traditional wedding attire, but because New York is hot in summer (it was 85 degrees and humid), I decided on a lightweight, flowing skirt and lightweight floral dresses for my bridesmaids. The men had traditional tuxes and we lucked out with ties that matched the dresses.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to bring elements of our new home to the wedding. We found the <\/span><\/i>Jerris Wadsworth Wedding Barn<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which not only fit our wedding size and budget, but also had a lot of beautiful natural elements so that we could enjoy the outdoors.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cOur ceremony was outdoors under two massive willow trees with a pond behind us, and our florist used bright colors with a wildflower inspiration. I asked my bridesmaids to wear a white floral dress to compliment the woodland theme and it looked stunning.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cOur reception had lawn games and a large estate for the guests to wander around.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cOur Best Man and friend performed our first-dance song acoustically, and we performed a bridesmaid dance for the groom to “The Way You Make Me Feel,” by Michael Jackson. It was important for us to throw a party for everyone to enjoy, and I know our guests had a blast!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI would not recommend planning a wedding across the country! But with an enormous amount of help from family, friends and our amazing wedding planner, we had an amazing day. Having a wedding planner was one of the best decisions we made because we were able to enjoy our wedding day without worrying about any logistical details.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
