What Is <\/b>Kwanzaa<\/b> All About?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The name <\/span>Kwanzaa<\/span> comes from the <\/span>Swahili phrase<\/span> \u201c<\/span>matunda<\/span> ya <\/span>kwanza,<\/span>\u201d which means \u201c<\/span>first fruits<\/span>\u201d \u2014 with an extra \u201ca\u201d on the end to symbolize <\/span>the seven principles<\/span>. These seven principles of African heritage, also known as<\/span> Nguzo Saba<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, are celebrated over the seven days of December 26 to January 1 as follows:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Create a <\/b>Kwanzaa<\/b> Display<\/b><\/h3>\n

    A <\/span>Kwanzaa<\/span> display is a wonderful way to honor the traditions of the holiday within your home. Find or set up a table within your home, somewhere that it can be seen and enjoyed. Place a woven mat on the table, with a <\/span>kinara<\/span> (seven-branch <\/span>candle holder<\/span>) and mishumaa saba (the seven candles) on top.
